Direct and manage the Department's Extension programs and strategic planning. Specific Extension activities include developing and conducting specialized training in toxicology, water quality, and pesticides in support of NC Cooperative Extension field faculty, preparing extension-related publications, and organizing and conducting short courses and state, national, and international meetings. Supervise and conduct research related to the effects of environmental contaminants and other stresses on aquatic organisms, with emphasis on imperiled native freshwater fishes, mussels, snails and the fate, bioavailability, and transport of contaminants in aquatic ecosystems. Participate in teaching, advising and supervising graduate student research at the M.S. and Ph.D. levels and research and teaching at the post-doctoral scholar level.
